Health Guarantee
I am happy you have chosen to purchase your new puppy from R4 Kennel. Your new puppy is guaranteed at the time of purchase to be healthy and free of infectious diseases. Before leaving our care, puppy has been wormed and had its first round of vaccinations, but this does not mean that puppy cannot be found with worms or other parasites after leaving our care. Buyer must assume full responsibility of care and maintenance of the puppy at the time of pickup or delivery and resume all care of worming and vaccinations. We have no control over the puppy’s environment after leaving and we are not responsible for care, maintenance, vet bills, shipping fees, traveling and /or boarding fees, etc.… incurred in caring for the puppy. You will be given a health record with your new puppy please take your puppy to a veterinarian within 5 (five) business days of purchase. Not doing so will void this guarantee. Infectious diseases (such as parvo) are not covered by our health guarantee, as we have no control over what puppy is exposed to after it leaves our home. Parvo is found in the ground, and we insist that you not put a puppy on the ground outside until he is fully vaccinated at 15 or 16 weeks of age (doing so will void this guarantee). We are also not responsible for any tragic accidents or injuries puppy may sustain after leaving our care. Should your vet find the puppy to suffer from a life-threatening congenital defect you are to immediately notify me and make arrangements to return the puppy along with the vet statement and the next puppy of equal value will be made available to you. If puppy was shipped, then buyer is responsible for shipping fees to return the puppy. This guarantee is for replacement only. There will be no cash refunds given.
This guarantee is good for one (1) year. If the death of a puppy should occur in the first year the buyer MUST have an autopsy done at their expense, notify us immediately and provide an autopsy report from vet. If autopsy confirms puppy’s death was due to a congenital abnormality, the next available puppy of equal value will be offered. Buyer is responsible for any shipping fees to have a replacement sent to them. Again, this is for replacement only no cash refunds will be given.
Please note that during times of stress, such as going to a new home, puppies can exhibit temporary signs of illness which may include sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, diarrhea and/or constipation. To help reduce the signs of stress, feed the puppy identical food as the breeder and offer bottled water, as well as taking reasonable measure to reduce stress. You can do this by slowly introducing them to the house and the members of the household, as well as limiting the time they are with strangers, children, and other animals. All dogs carry coccidia. It is generally self-eliminating, and owners see no signs of it. But under stress it can ‘crack’ on young puppies causing diarrhea. Coccidia and Giardia are easily treated and not considered to be a defect in a puppy, and they are not covered under our guarantee. Just watch your new puppy’s stool for a couple of weeks after arriving in its new home and consult your vet if you see loose stools. Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is not covered under our guarantee this can occur if puppy does not eat or if it becomes cold, overheated or becomes ill or stressed, this is not a congenital defect nor is it fatal if caught in time. This is especially common in toy breeds and generally they outgrow it. Watch for signs of this, puppy will become listless, lifeless, or dazed. Give a small amount of karo and water and puppy should recover. Contact your veterinarian or us for advice. River Bend Pups is not responsible for any vet bills occurred treating any of these sicknesses upon leaving our care.
Things that are not guaranteed by most breeders, including R4 Kennel, hernias (any kind), testicles (not descending), patella luxation (loose joints), open fontanel (soft spot-on top of head), these things are not considered life threatening. Seizures and abnormally small livers are not covered under this guarantee; they are common in toy breeds and are not congenital abnormalities.
Since I guarantee this puppy to be healthy at pickup or delivery there is no guarantee either expressed or implied by me, other than stated in this document. If you experience any problems, please feel free to call me anytime at (318) 502-2982. Enjoy and give your new puppy lots of love!
